Don’t ask before you try Google.
I don’t remember if someone told me or I just got the idea from what she/he did (to me?).
At the beginning of my internship, I felt like I was lost in outer space and I only had 1 way to find my way back, and it was the internet. For the first few days, I asked and asked and asked my senior to help me. I knew that he was working too at that time, but I didn’t have another choice (I thought I didn’t). He taught me some tricks to do my job. Thanks to him, I know what to do with my job now, at least I know several steps to start with. I bet he spent a lot of time helping me to search on the internet (because it was a new thing for him too).
Go back to Google. You know what? Google is where you can find anything. I mean it. Sometimes you just don’t know how to use it well. I’ve been experiencing this a lot in my internship. Tried several different keywords and failed. Looked stupid maybe, but I found the way eventually. The best part is that I don’t waste anybody’s time. If I really can’t find any solution, I have no choice except asking for some help. And I know I can say I’ve tried Google if he asks.
Knowing that you can find anything from Google, you should try it before you ask someone. When you really can’t find any solution, you can go and ask somebody.
